Physical Literacy can be understood as an ‘effective interaction with an environment’ where learners are able to challenge themselves physically in a range of environments, engage in different situations, respond appropriately, authentically, and rationally. The idea is to draw on previous experiences and develop their capability, appreciation and comprehension. It is a process of give and take through interaction, perception and action, where we develop ourselves as we interact with the world. The range of opportunities provided are safe and culturally relevant, with sufficient time allocated for participation in each activity. In order to interact effectively within a physical environment, they need the “motivation, confidence, physical competence, knowledge and understanding to value and take responsibility for engagement in physical activities for life.” The school provides an array of sports activities such as football, basketball, cricket, badminton, table-tennis, chess etc. that help students foster skills like teamwork, leadership, competition, sportsmanship, handling pressure, managing responsibility and commitment, which are pivotal in building a holistic personality of the child.
